I call this quilt The Rainbow Connection partly because of the association with the Muppets (which I'll explain below) but also because it's an exercise in color theory. I used squares in the seven colors of the rainbow, cut them apart and sewed them back together, with each square containing a fabric strip in a complementary color.

Now for the link to the Muppets: I'm a diehard Muppet fan, and I'm especially a fan of Muppet performer Richard Hunt (Scooter, Janice, Beaker, et al). I learned through MuppetCast (a Muppet-related podcast) that one of Richard's nieces was going to become a mother. So, with the help of MuppetCast host Steve Swanson, I sent the quilt to Richard's mother, Jane, so she could pass it on to her granddaughter.

What actually happened was that Steve delivered the quilt to Jane in person, since he had interviewed Jane several times on the show and had become good friends with her.
